When would you like to stay at Barangay B&B?
Barangay is a Filipino word meaning small village or community. Ask any Filipino to satisfy your curiosity.
Our tropical decorated guest house is located in a typical Amsterdam canal house built in 1777 on the former coastline of Amsterdam. The house has still her original facade featuring a gable stone of an island with 3 palm trees.
We welcomed our first guests in August of 1999. We give each guest a warm welcome, a uniquely decorated room, your home away from home.
Our guests can enjoy our “world famous breakfasts in bed” from 09.00 hours til 11.00 hours. If you want an early breakfast, we can serve a wonderful cold continental breakfast the night before.
Through the years, Barangay B&B has been recognized with multiple Awards and we are humbled by hundreds of excellent guest reviews. We cannot thank you enough.

THE LOCATION
The B&B is located in the city centre within the Unesco World Heritage Site. Definitely one of the best areas to explore Amsterdam and beyond. Literally, most tourist attractions are just around the corner, within walking distance!
Our quiet street connects two major canals. The street behind us is the longest shopping street of Amsterdam. A section of which called Haarlemmerstraat/dijk, has been consistently voted as the best shopping street of Holland. This former sea dike now features good restaurants, cafes, especialty / local shops and even a small art-deco cinema.
From Schiphol Airport it's a 15 minute train ride to Amsterdam Centraal Station

THE HOSTS
The owners, Wimmo and Godwin ( or God as he is called by his friends) are two easy-going guys, sharing their lives together since 1996. In August 1999 their biggest dream came true and opened their own guest house, Barangay Bed and Breakfast.
Wimmo, the Dutch look-a-like of Bruce Willis was born in a small city near Rotterdam. He was trained as a classical ballet dancer in The Hague and from 1980 till 1987, he danced for Het Internationale Dans Theather in Amsterdam. After 3 years in the advertising world, he worked for a canal boat company and managed it for 10 years. Aside from the Barangay, Wimmo worked part-time as host/guide on canal boats trips for the same company. He is the in-house designer and interior decorator. In 2005 Wimmo opened the 2 upper rooms his residence upstairs. In 2010 he has rediscovered his passion for painting.
Before cold Netherlands in 1996, Godwin lived a long and happy life in tropical paradise, The Philippines. There he was a college instructor in economics and political science, a research writer both for MBC business magazine and Lady Senator Rasul. Happier times in Amsterdam, Godwin did all kind of 'odd jobs' instead of finishing his MBA studies. He also worked for a canal boat company, waited for Hard Rock Café, helped Mader run "Sunhead of 1617 Guest House" and seriously, was a data typist. A licensed tennis instructor since 2005, Godwin is a fanatic tennis player and a regular fixture in de GLTA European circuit.
Your third host, Edson joined the Barangay family in 2010 to serve the guests even better. Like Godwin he knows Filipino hospitality like no other. A multi-talented Pinoy with a big smile who loves to travel the world. Edson is a make-up artist, a hairdresser and not to to forget a true innkeeper as his partner is also B&B owner. He loves Mariah Carey and in the near future, dreams of opening his very own unique concept of beauty saloon /guest house / restaurant enterprise. On his free time, he is passionate in flying his Drone.
THE OTHER HOSTS
Our Ginger Cats Flip & Gogo had a good life with us for more than 15 years, but unfortunately cats don't live forever...
The 14th of December 2012 we welcomed our new Black Boys Billy & Bossy.
Billy is a bit bigger than his brother, he is very curios and playfull. Bossy takes it easy and is a bit shy.
We hope they will complete our family for at least 15 years!
